From May 29th to June 9th, the world’s chess elite descended upon Norway, creating an unforgettable tournament filled with extraordinary battles, astonishing moves, and entertainment to chess fans all over the world.

The tournament, held in the city of Stavanger, attracted the crème de la crème of the chess world. With a field featuring legendary Grandmasters, prodigious rising stars, and formidable contenders, Norway Chess 2023 showcased the unparalleled depth and brilliance of the game.

One of the features of this year’s event was the competition and the struggle for dominance. Grandmaster Fabiano Caruana was leading the tournament until the very last round where number two, Hikaru Nakamura won the game crowning him the tournament winner. The young Grandmaster Gukesh D. who celebrated his 17^th birthday on the first day of the tournament, did remarkably well, finishing as number 3. Magnus Carlsen, who have won Norway Chess 5 times, did not have his best tournament, finishing as number 6.

One of the highlights of Norway Chess 2023 was the rise of young chess prodigies, who challenged the established order. Their play and tactical brilliance left the audience in awe. The world witnessed the new generation, with talents like Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Gukesh D. and Alireza Firouzja.

The Confessional Booth – An Insider’s View and Entertaining Insights
In addition to the thrilling battles on the chessboard, the confessional booth added an extra layer of excitement for the audience. The confessional booth allowed players to share their thoughts, strategies, and even commenting on other players’ games, providing valuable insights into their decision-making processes. Masters of the game such as Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura frequented the confessional booth, captivating viewers with their candid remarks and captivating analyses. The confessional booth not only provided valuable educational content for chess enthusiasts but also added an element of entertainment to the tournament. We would like to express our appreciation to Hikaru Nakamura, Magnus Carlsen, and all the players who generously participated in the confessional booth, bringing an added dimension of entertainment and educational value to Norway Chess 2023.

More than 40 events in 2 weeks
The supertournament was accompanied by an International Open Tournament that attracted participants from 19 diverse countries. The Norway Summit, a business conference held in conjunction with the event, achieved resounding success, featuring thought-provoking discussions led by esteemed global speakers. Furthermore, a series of engaging activities were organized for children, sponsors, and supporters, further enhancing the overall experience.

A uniquely familiar atmosphere
The thrilling clashes at Norway Chess 2023 were not limited to the tournament hall alone. Our organizing committee made sure to foster an atmosphere of camaraderie and collaboration among the players, creating a memorable experience both on and off the board. Exciting social events, Norway Chess Games, and the Players’ Party in the Norway Chess Garden, creating many fun moments.
