Sustainable drinking water producer PURENorway Water has signed a three-year partner contract with Norway Chess.

Norway Chess is one of the world’s most prestigious chess tournaments featuring some of the top players in the world. They meet over the board annually in Stavanger, Norway, in a tournament that has been dubbed “The Wimbledon of Chess”.

“PURENorway Water is proud to collaborate with Norway Chess, one of the world’s strongest and best-known chess tournaments,” says PureNorway Water CEO Even Ovnerud.

“Norway Chess has shown that they are innovative and creative, and the tournament’s values makes it a great match for us. Sustainability and social values are important elements in our daily work, and through Norway Chess we will reach an important audience ready to influence the future”, says Ovnerud.

PURENorway Water is capturing the essence of Norway, the sustainable way. The water comes in still and sparkling, and with different flavors. It is bottled in environmentally friendly and recyclable aluminum cans, creating no plastic leeching. With a close to zero-carbon footprint, one percent of the company’s turnover goes to cleansing the world’s oceans for plastics. At this year’s tournament, and the next years to come, visitors can experience the water for themselves.

“We are happy that a professional player like PURENorway Water, with focus on sustainability and social values, has entered into a collaboration with Norway Chess,” says director Kjell Madland of Norway Chess.

“We are very much looking forward to this cooperation, and we are proud that PURENorway Water sees the value in being part of one of the world’s strongest chess tournaments,” says Madland.

This year’s tournament takes place September 7-17 in Stavanger. Spectators can follow the tournament on Norwegian TV 2 Play, on the websites norwaychess.com, or at Clarion Hotel Stavanger where the tournament takes place
