What if there were one title to decide the world’s most complete chess player?
That’s the idea behind the Total Chess World Championship Tour — a brand-new, FIDE-approved global championship created by the team behind Norway Chess.
Watch our short animation video below to see how the Total Chess World Championship Tour works:
For the first time, all three chess disciplines — Fast Classic, Rapid, and Blitz — come together to determine the ultimate champion: the FIDE World Combined Champion.
Each season will feature a global series of tournaments with 24 elite players in each event, competing across three international locations. Only the top four players advance to the fourth and final tournament,, where one titleholder will be crowned.
Players will qualify through rating, FIDE tournaments and other tournaments. The exact qualification system is still under development, and we plan to announce it in Q1 2026.
The Tour’s test pilot is set for autumn 2026, leading up to the first full championship season in 2027.
