After thirteen years in Stavanger, Norway Chess is moving to Oslo. This year’s tournament takes place at Deichman Bjørvika — the award-winning library by the Opera House — from 25 May–5 June 2026.

Two elite tournaments run side by side with the same format and prize fund. Norway Chess brings together Magnus Carlsen (a seven-time winner), World Champion Gukesh D, Alireza Firouzja, Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu, Wesley So, and Vincent Keymer. Norway Chess Women — held for the third time — features reigning World Champion Ju Wenjun, last year’s winner Anna Muzychuk, Bibisara Assaubayeva, Divya Deshmukh, Zhu Jiner, and Humpy Koneru.
The games are open to the public. Doors open at 16:15 on playing days, with each round starting at 17:00.
Tickets are on sale now, and are available in three tiers — Standard, Premium, and VIP. Families with two adults and at least two children or youth also qualify for a discount, which is applied automatically. Student tickets are also available at a reduced price.
It will also be possible to buy tickets at Deichman during the tournament.
