Norway Chess 2025 is just around the corner, and we’ve gathered all the key info you’ll need. From the schedule and format to where you can watch and what else is happening — here’s the full rundown.
Norway Chess and Norway Chess Women, feature the same format, same prize money, and take place in the same playing hall. Both tournaments follow a 6-player double round-robin format. The Armageddon Format guarantees a decisive result in every match, making every round thrilling to watch. If a classical game ends in a draw, the players immediately face off in a high-stakes Armageddon game to determine the winner!
For Norway Chess 2025: Magnus Carlsen (Norway), Hikaru Nakamura (USA), Gukesh D (India), Fabiano Caruana (USA), Arjun Erigaisi (India), and Wei Yi (China).
For Norway Chess Women 2025: Ju Wenjun (China), Lei Tingjie (China), Humpy Koneru (India), Anna Muzychuk (Ukraine), Vaishali Rameshbabu (India), and Sarasadat Khademalsharieh (Spain).

Norway Chess 2025 is scheduled from May 26 to June 6 in Stavanger, Norway. The playing venue is Finansparken (Sparebank1 Sør-Norge) located in Christen Tranes gate 35, 4007 Stavanger.

Norway Chess Open 2025
Our open tournament welcomes players of all levels to compete alongside rising stars and top professionals. This year, it will take place from 26th May to 1st June at IMI Forum in Stavanger. Registration for both GM Group (2000+ rating) and ELO Group (all ratings) is open. Read more and find information on registration on norwaychessopen.no.

Norway Summit “The Next Move”
Norway Summit is the premier knowledge-sharing conference of Norway Chess, one of the world’s strongest and most innovative chess tournaments. Since 2016, Norway Summit has brought together world-leading thinkers, innovators, investors, and decision-makers to explore the intersection of technology, innovation, and economics.
This year, the conference will be held at Fiskepiren in Stavanger on June 4. Speakers and panelists this year include James Altucher, Anna Rosling Rönnlund, Viswanathan Anand, Leontxo Garcia, Thorir Hergeirsson, Dr. Ishita Barua, Ola Kvaløy and Øystein Eriksen Søreide. Norway Chess school tournament
On Wednesday, May 28, Bjergstedparken in Stavanger will once again be buzzing with energy as Norway Chess, together with our Spanish sponsor Fundación RMD, hosts this year’s school chess tournament – an exciting outdoor event for children across the Stavanger region.
