Do you work with middle school students who enjoy playing chess? Or perhaps you’re a parent of one?

Norway Chess is inviting middle schools from all over Rogaland to participate in a fantastic outdoor chess tournament on Friday 31st May. The tournament starts at 9 a.m. and lasts until approximately 3 p.m., taking place outside the old concert hall in Bjergstedparken, Stavanger.

The purpose of the tournament is sustainability and education. The school tournament will be held outdoors with school teams, using large chess boards made of recycled rubber.

The tournament is a collaboration with our Spanish sponsor Neusus Upcycling / RMD based in León, Spain, who have produced the large chess boards and pieces for the event. A team from León will also come to Stavanger to participate, and the main prize for the local middle school that wins, is a trip to León to participate in a similar tournament!

There is room for a total of 24 teams, and it’s first come, first served!

Would you like to register your school team? The registration deadline is Monday 13th May.
