The 10th edition of Norway Chess -Congratulations!

Back

May 30 to June 10,  2022 marked the 10th edition of Norway Chess!

Did you experience it live at SpareBank 1 SR-Bank Finansparken? Or maybe you followed the international broadcast on chess24 or the Norwegian broadcast at TV 2 Sport channel?

Check out the video summary of this years tournament for a look behind the scenes of Norway Chess.

Some of the events that happened during the two weeks:
♟ Opening of the worlds largest chess board by Neusus Upcycling & RMD SA
♟ Opening Ceremony with beautiful singing and music by Gospelkoret Abraham & Marie Klåpbakken
♟ Prize Ceremony
♟ 30 volunteers helped us (We could not do this without them!)
♟ 10 chess branded Bavaria MINI cars transported crew and players
♟ 20 side-by-side events for our partners, crew and players including wine tasting, boat trips, hikes, garden party, sponsor events, behind the scenes, VIP dinners etc.
♟ The Norway Summit conference where the grandmasters in business discussed the next move

If you missed it this year, remember we will be back next year for the 11th edition of Norway Chess.

A big thank you to all our sponsors (NES Fircroft, HTH Køkkener A/S, EY, House of Yarn, TV 2, chess24, Pure Norway, Bavaria MINI, Ventitech AS, Avinor, Norway Summit, Kiilto, Spir Helse AS, iteam, MULTIMEDIA GRUPPEN LIMITED, Kai Hansen Trykkeri, Last Friday, SpareBank 1 SR-Bank, Maxi Tannhelse & Stavanger kommune), partners, crew, players, guests and volunteers who have participated in, supported and followed the tournament for all these years. As director Kjell Madland states in the video “we had a big goal from the beginning, and I am so happy to be where we are”. He was referring to years of challenging times such as the pandemic, oil crisis and financial crisis. Still we have managed to not only carry out the tournament in challenging times, but also to grow and develop. This shows that chess is growing and is getting more popular by the day.

We look forward to start working towards the 11th edition of Norway Chess which hopefully also will include a women’s tournament 💪
Stay tuned!
