This week we’re delighted to welcome Amna Alsuosy to the team as our new Social Media Content Creator.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Amna holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and French Literature from Al-Azhar University in Palestine and brings over five years of experience in social media management and digital marketing, spanning content creation, social media strategy, and building engaging digital campaigns. She’s worked across a range of sectors \u2014 from yoga and wellness to boxing and the nonprofit world \u2014 and now brings that creative range to Norway Chess and our newest concept: Total Chess. In her new role she’ll be creating content across both brands.<\/span><\/p>\n

To get to know her better, we asked Amna a few questions:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Welcome to the team! How does it feel to be joining Norway Chess and Total Chess?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Honestly, it feels a little surreal. I came into this opportunity curious about chess and excited about the challenge, and then I found myself surrounded by such a creative and ambitious team. After the Oslo tournament, I knew I wanted to keep going, so I\u2019m really excited to officially be joining Norway Chess and Total Chess. I\u2019m looking forward to learning, creating, and seeing what we can build together.<\/span><\/p>\n

What was it about Norway Chess and the growing Total Chess brand that made you want to come on board?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The challenge, definitely. <\/span>I love stepping into worlds I don\u2019t know yet and figuring out how to tell their stories in a way that makes people care.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chess was fairly new to me, but I saw so much potential in the stories around it: the personalities, the tension, the strategy, the culture, and everything that happens around the board. And with Total Chess growing as a brand, it feels like a really exciting time to be part of that journey.<\/span><\/p>\n

You’ve created content across some varied worlds \u2014 yoga and wellness, boxing, nonprofits. What have you learned from those that you’ll bring to chess?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

That every world has its own language and its own audience, but people are always looking for something they can feel or connect with.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yoga taught me about storytelling through emotion and atmosphere. Boxing taught me about energy, personality, and capturing a moment. Working with nonprofits taught me how important authentic storytelling is and how much impact a good story can have. I think all of that will be useful in chess, especially because there are so many layers to the game beyond what happens on the board.<\/span><\/p>\n

You’ll be creating content across everything from Instagram and TikTok to YouTube, X, and LinkedIn. Which platform are you most excited to get stuck into, and why?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Definitely TikTok and Instagram. Short form video is probably what I\u2019m most excited about. I love the challenge of taking a complicated idea, a big personality, or a small moment and turning it into something that makes someone stop scrolling.<\/span><\/p>\n

But honestly, I\u2019m excited about working across all of them because each platform has its own personality. I like figuring out what works where rather than trying to make one piece of content fit everywhere.<\/span><\/p>\n

A big part of the job is telling stories through short-form video. What, for you, makes a piece of content really connect with an audience?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

It has to feel human. For me, the best content makes you feel something quickly. It can make you laugh, surprise you, teach you something, or make you want to know what happens next.<\/span><\/p>\n

And I think authenticity matters a lot. People can feel when something is overly scripted or trying too hard. <\/span>Sometimes the smallest, most unexpected moment becomes the best story.<\/span><\/p>\n

What’s a brand you look up to on social media (besides ours, of course :)?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Of course, Norway Chess itself really inspired me. I love how the brand can be professional and credible while still being human, bright, and fun. I think that balance is really difficult to get right.<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m also really inspired by football clubs and the way they build their brands. They understand their audiences incredibly well, have a very recognizable personality, and know how to make the game feel bigger than just what happens on the pitch. They make it emotional, interesting, and passionate, and bring people closer to the sport and the people behind it.<\/span><\/p>\n

I also love watching how brands build a whole world around themselves rather than simply promoting a product. That\u2019s something I find really interesting.<\/span><\/p>\n

Where do you go for inspiration, and how do you keep on top of trends in such a fast-moving space as social media?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Honestly, everywhere. I definitely spend a lot of time on TikTok and Instagram, both because of my work and because I genuinely enjoy them.<\/span><\/p>\n

But I also look outside social media. I watch films, follow creators, look at advertising, sports, fashion, photography, and even random things that have nothing to do with my work.<\/span><\/p>\n

I really believe you can get inspiration from almost anything if you keep your mind open and stay curious.<\/span><\/p>\n

For trends, I think you have to pay attention and understand why something is working rather than just jumping on a trend because everyone else is doing it. <\/span>Trends move quickly, but a good story never really goes out of style.<\/span><\/p>\n

Do you play chess yourself?\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m going to be honest: not really \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/p>\n

Before joining Norway Chess, my chess knowledge was basically knowing how the pieces move, knowing their names, and knowing that you definitely don’t want to hear \u201ccheckmate\u201d when you’re playing!<\/span><\/p>\n

But that\u2019s also what made this opportunity so exciting for me. I\u2019m learning, I\u2019ve started playing, and I\u2019m definitely trying to get better and beat everyone as soon as possible. I\u2019m also asking a lot of questions and discovering how much more there is to chess than I ever realized.<\/span><\/p>\n

And finally, when you’re not creating content, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I love exploring, travelling, meeting people, discovering new cultures, and finding new places, especially since moving to Norway. I\u2019m also very comfortable with being uncomfortable. I genuinely enjoy putting myself in situations where I don\u2019t know everything yet, which is probably why I said yes to a job in chess when I knew almost nothing about it \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m naturally very curious, so if something catches my attention, I can go down a very deep rabbit hole trying to understand it. And sometimes, doing absolutely nothing with a good coffee is the perfect plan.<\/span><\/p>\n
