Norway Chess Open<\/a> will be held in Oslo in 2026, alongside the prestigious Norway Chess and Norway Chess Women tournaments.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In collaboration with The Good Knight \u2013 the world\u2019s first chess bar<\/strong>, both the Open tournaments and a wide range of evening social side events, Social Knights<\/strong>, will take place at the venue in central Oslo. The ambition is to create a vibrant meeting place for players, spectators and chess enthusiasts throughout the tournament period.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2026, Norway Chess Open will be played in a more focused format, featuring two separate standard-rated tournaments<\/strong>:<\/span>
\n\u2022 Norway Chess Open 2026 \u2013 May Edition:<\/strong> 23\u201329 May<\/span>
\n\u2022 Norway Chess Open 2026 \u2013 June Edition:<\/strong> 1\u20137 June<\/span><\/p>\n

Each tournament consists of 7 rounds over 7 days<\/strong>, with a classical time control of 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment<\/strong>, and a maximum of 72 players per tournament<\/strong>. The tournaments are FIDE-rated standard events<\/strong>, open to players of all levels, with all participants competing in a single group and without norm opportunities. All rounds start at 10:00, and no double rounds are scheduled.<\/span><\/p>\n
