She was the first Indian woman to earn the prestigious grandmaster title, and she continues to inspire with every tournament she enters. Currently ranked World No.6 and India\u2019s top player in women\u2019s chess, Humpy\u2019s path to the top has been one marked by discipline, excellence, and numerous achievements.<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, she claimed the World Rapid Championship title, showcasing her adaptability across formats. This achievement was followed by the BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year award in 2020, a recognition of her extraordinary impact on Indian sports. In 2024 she made an inspiring comeback to win her second World Rapid title with an impressive 8.5\/11 score. A gold medalist in the Olympiad, Asian Games, and Asian Championship, Humpy\u2019s influence stretches beyond her rating and titles\u2014she has redefined possibilities for women in chess across India and the world.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\">Humpy\u2019s Excitement for Norway Chess 2025<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">Norway Chess 2025 will give Humpy the opportunity to demonstrate her skills once again. As the second female player, after Judit Polg\u00e1r, to exceed the 2600 rating mark, she has consistently broken barriers and paved the way for women\u2019s chess. Her participation this year reflects her determination and drive to compete at the highest level.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">&#8220;It&#8217;s an honour to play in the prestigious Norway Chess Women tournament,&#8221; said Humpy Koneru.
