That same year, he faced Magnus Carlsen for the World Title but ultimately lost in the tiebreak playoffs. Caruana is also a former Norway Chess Champion and secured his spot in the next Candidates Tournament by topping the FIDE Circuit leaderboard in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>His tournament wins span across major events like the 2014 Sinquefield Cup (where he achieved a record 3098 performance rating), 2020 Tata Steel Masters, 2023 Sinquefield Cup, and the 2024 Superbet Chess Classic, among others.<\/p>\n<h3>Precision and Style<\/h3>\n<p>Nicknamed &#8220;The Machine,&#8221; Caruana is celebrated for his precise calculations and deep opening preparation.
