We are pleased to announce the official player field for the upcoming Norway Chess tournament May 29 – June 9.<\/strong> This year’s tournament promises to be a highly competitive and exciting event, featuring some of the world’s most talented chess players.<\/p>\n

Returning to the tournament this year are Grandmasters Magnus Carlsen, Alireza Firouzja, Anish Giri, Wesley So, Hikaru Nakamura, Fabiano Caruana, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and Aryan Tari.<\/p>\n

Additionally, we are excited to welcome two new young talents to the tournament: 18-year-old Grandmaster, Nodirbek Abdusattorov from Uzbekistan, and 16-year-old Grandmaster, Dommaraju Gukesh from India.<\/p>\n

    Nodirbek Abdusattorov, ranked number 17 in the world, is an Uzbek grandmaster who won the 2021 World Rapid Championship and played on the first board for team Uzbekistan that won the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad. He did both when 17 years old, becoming the youngest player ever to do so.<\/p>\n

    Dommaraju Gukesh, better known as Gukesh D, currently ranked number 18 in the world, has been described as a chess prodigy. He is the third-youngest person in history to qualify for the title of Grandmaster. In 2022, at the age of 16, he became the youngest player ever to defeat current world champion Magnus Carlsen, when he beat Carlsen in a game in an online chess tournament. Also in 2022, Gukesh became the youngest Indian player to cross the 2700 rating, and became the youngest Indian player to break into World Top 100.<\/p>\n
